This website is dedicated in memory of my dad, Raymond De Ceunynck

08.08.2000

My dad's passion for the orient began when he was a young man. He served in the military and was stationed in Japan. There, he met my mom, and later persuaded her to return with him to the United States and raise a family.

As the years passed, he wanted desperately to bring home an Akita. He always spoke so highly of this noble breed. I can still hear him pronounce "A-KI-TA" with his deep, strong voice. In the early 80's, our first rescue Akita "Shadow" shared her love with us. It did not take long to understand my dad's passion for this beautiful breed. I admired her gentleness and devotion, especially when Shadow seemed to protect my daughter Amber, who was just an infant at that time. My dad introduced me to respected breeders. We both curiously learned about the world of showing in conformation and obedience, as well as the passion, commitment, and dedication it takes to become a professional breeder.

I had no idea Shadow would change my life forever... Somehow...he knew she would. His love and determination to enhance her life was admirable. Through him I learned nothing is impossible, and dreams can be reality.

I have been on a journey ever since...

Today, Kicho Na Akitas is a small kennel near Reno, Nevada. My husband Ed, along with daughters Amber & Alanna, share the love, socialization, training, travel and exhibiting for this amazing breed! Though we breed on an extremely limited basis, we are inspired to breed the healthiest puppies (health and temperament clearances are necessary before breedings are considered). Each breeding is done with the confidence the puppies will be of outstanding quality, of sound mind and body, a protector of your family and a devoted companion. We will not compromise on unfit character. Companions are placed with a spay/ neuter contract, there are no exceptions.

We are committed and passionate about educating and mentoring others about our treasured breed. We will always continue to research and learn from our respected Akita breeders, pet professionals, and especially from our Akitas. The very well respected BJ Andrews (Akitas O'BJ) shared her wisdom when we lost our sweet Jackie...."There are very special, very fragile gifts which we are sometimes blessed to receive.... Bigson, Nikki, Ko-Go; each brightened our days and brought immeasurable joy into our lives. Somehow, the time span matters not. A week. A year. A lifetime can be but a flicker of time and a moment can be a lifetime....Treasure the memories...they will last you an eternity."

Thank You for visiting ... God Bless...
